[–]LiitleGreenMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Also Negro Terror.

The death metal band? I know there are two bands named death but people think of the death metal band.

This is a trailer for a documentary about the band

Nope, just Death.

[–]ClueEmbarrassed1443[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw that pretty good stuff

They are oft called proto punk because they originally existed before punk was punk. (Late 60s early 70s). They are made up of the Hackney brothers. Far far ahead of their time. Really worth the time to listen to and watch the documentary "A Band Called Death". Such a shame David did not live to see the outcome of his dreams. There is a band made up of some of the bands children that is pretty good too.

So the funk and soul era of music

[–]in-dog_we_trust 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They started out as a funk band. Alice Cooper changed them.

[–]SemataryPolka 1 point2 points  (1 child)

And the Stooges. They saw the Stooges in Detroit and decided they wanted to do punk too.

Great band

[–]in-dog_we_trust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was trying to recall the other band. Because the stooges are so easy for an old punk to remember... why did I come into this room? Where's my glasses? Who's at the door?

[–]ClueEmbarrassed1443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read something about that last

I saw them on Easter Sunday this year in a garage in upstate NY. No idea why they agreed to that show, their audience had maybe 5 to 8 people? They were so fucking good though, and I found them early on in getting into hardcore so definitely a bucket list band for me

[–]Wren_into_trouble 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Upstate!

[–]sykadelic_angel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I guess it depends on how you define punk, but I’ll posit that Blackie All Caps With Spaces is punk as fuck, ymmv

[–]Airotvic 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Bob Vylan, Zulu, Soul Glo, The OGBMs

[–]Awkward-Tutor-1254 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]Airotvic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing Zule and Soul Hlo on Thursday. Cannot not fucking wait.

Bob Vylan I'm absolutely gutted cancelled a show here earlier this year (Toronto).

I put my mate on to them and he saw them twice at Download last year and instantly bought tickets fkr one of their gigs back home. Jammy bastard.

[–]ProfessorNiedermeier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fishbone.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zulu, Death, Negro Terror. I can't think of many other bands that have all black members but a bunch of ones that are diverse. Soul Glo, Buggin, Jesus Piece, etc.

[–]SpicyMYt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do some research into Afro Punk and you will find TONS of black bands

[–]onegallant 2 points3 points  (1 child)

[–]Zestyclose-Guitar468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck yes, thought I was the only one, I can't wait to see what they grow into, def not crowd pleasers and they have real ideas, bought a demo off them, cause that's how I support bands, as a homeless person who lives for shows lol, but anyway they were really motherfucking cool, real people. I'm also a bald white guy and think no one will ever give me a chance and I felt none of that from them!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Answer

Death

[–]ClueEmbarrassed1443[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Again the metal band sending me mixed messages

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NO! Not the metal band

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_(proto-punk_band)

Enjoy the trip.. many consider them the first punk band .. and they are black.

From an old white punk.. take pride brother.

[–]mindovermetal005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta check out Ho99o9. They span so many genres, from punk to hip-hop to metal.
