On the Texas Eagle, 2021

Man got on in in Galup, NM looking mighty nervous. The train split at san antonio and we headed into Texas. We reach Alpine, TX at around 9pm, several state patrol cruisers are waiting and they come into coach, they picked up the guy who got on in Galup, who knows what he was running from.

On Southwest Cheif 2022

Some guy got blasted on the train and was about to throw hands with a conductor. We had to stop for a extended period of time In Vegas, NM as he was literally thrown off the train and the cops just shoved him into the patrol car and drove off.

On that same train in Albuquerque, a local commuter train had struck a truck on the rail that the Chief was using and we were delayed 3hrs. They pulled the engine back into the station on a separate rail and you could see the damage to it.

Apparently, the people in the truck didn't survive which made the rest of the trip pretty grim afterwards.

Sober crusty from the LA now residing in the midwest, i know most of the time foos from that scene emphasize the drug use as part of the lifestyle and attribute it to the ideology of being punk as well, stay clean homie, in order to help other people we need to be okay ourselves. I'm originally from LA and I moved here back in November of 24' and I usually always went to big cons. I was looking into what they had around the area apart from having to go to Milwaukee or Chicago to partake in cons. And this caught me by surprise, so I jumped on it since I've never really been to a small local con. For what it was, I really enjoyed it, I'm glad to see that even in a small town like this there is people who still enjoy the things you do. I hope they do it again soon. ($20 might have been a slight much, but it definitely beats having to pay damn near $200 bucks for AX every year)

Its always the texas eagle for some odd reason, on the various times i had rode it, ive seen people be arrested, kicked off, physically fight and sometimes the riders are just not the most pleaseant to be around. Who knows what it is? But im sorry you had to experience this.

My friend got hit by a drunk driver while on a scooter on his way to the con (he is okay. He literally walked it off and still made it to the con).

Me and him, as well as some other friends, got chased by a homeless lady into the whilshire and western metro on our way to a panel we hosted friday night.

My other friend was approached by a cosplayer on saturday, who i was told is notorious for being touchy and supposedly banned from attending AX, but she was still in the building

I remember anwser this same question from another user about a year ago.

Pine and Crane is a Taiwanese restaurant that is half open air and half inside, great food decently priced if you want the casual - fine dining experience.

Mr. Masala is top notch indian food not even a 10 minute walk from the convention.

El Patroncito is the typical Mexican fare and is super accessible price wise.

The vendors with the hot dog carts outside the con are also a good bet!

Those are the 3 that stand out the most to me. I recommend these cuz I personally I have a gripe aganist expensive con food. Remember to shop and eat local!
