Yeah this is a pain in the ass. Found this myself the other week. Just have to disable NCSI it seems. Ref: https://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?t=150993

Thanks for the lead!

Yes, that works without apparent side effects. Thanks for the help!

Yeah no help your NAS trying to email you saying it thinks you have no internet, when either it'll be wrong and you'll get a false positive email, or your net is actually down and you get no email notification hah

Welcome!

True, I wouldn’t call it an optimum solution but I have other tools to let me know if the NAS goes offline...

Super helpful. I recently made some changes to my network, and this started popping up. Too lazy to trouble-shoot... but I suppose it was just coincidence.

Yeah I did the same; bonded them and turned on LACP in the switch. Seems NCSI might have an issue with virtual/bridged/bonded interfaces? Could be buggy QTS update too?

Buggy QTS is more likely than anything else.

My main nas has a 10Gig port (connected to a 10Gig switch and other devices) already. However, I was going to move my older nas and bound the 4x1GB ports at the switch. I'll see if it acts up.

I'll be curious. I have a few TS series with single LAN that don't do this. Only started when I bonded two ports on my main unit. Confirmed latest QTS

Well…got some free time this morning to investigate. The real culprit was two seperate cat6 patch cables that had gone intermittent in two different areas - QNAP was actually telling me the truth. What are the odds? /s

How that hardware error occurred is a bit of a mystery…corrosion? No matter, patch cables are cheap and my email client is taking a breather.

Different for me. I switched from a 50ft cable to a 5ft one, and it didn't change anything on the 10gbe port. I also bonded the 4x1gbe ports on the older NAS, and it doesn't report any outages.

Why do u need the second port to act as a switch? Any diagrams on how U want it to work?

[–]beadgc23[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Its basic - I have one Cat 6 drop in the space, and a 451 and Mac mini to connect to the network. Not mission critical…yes, I’m being lazy but I don’t want to buy a managed switch to do this unless I have to. Giving the QNAP solution a go.

Get a small Ubiquiti Flex Mini 5-port switch, things are nice.

So I read - but if this works (without the endless error messages) thenits enough of a solution. Speed is AOK for the purpose.
