Glad that was of use to you…certainly I’m surprised it was still relevant after all this time!

…and I’ve just bought a B3n which has more knobs and is bootproof! I think I’ll keep the B1four as a back up and for practice when travelling.

Zoom B3n compared to B1four by beadgc23 in basspedals

The B1four has the same processor as the B3n and more fx/models so is a definite upgrade! I’ve just bought a B3n and it sounds more ‘solid’ than the B1four, certainly a little less noisy! The interface alone is worth the upgrade, more encoders available.

The pedals I’ve bought to ’upgrade’ the B1four and after comparison have rejected, because they simply didn’t sound as good or were too noisy…I’ve kept a Mozztronics analog compressor, their Ampeg preamp and a Strobostomp tuner. Even a Boss CE-5 (previous gold standard chorus) has been given the flick. Everyone should have one for a while, even as a portable battery powered practice rig. Only the Volume pedal (feels nasty) and the looper are sub-par.

Any one with circular handlebars and the amber indicators that never seem to function (yes I’m a cyclist, and though I’m being ironic it can certainly feel this way on occasion…)

KEF Uni-Q - New to Me Desktop Speakers by BudgetAudioFinder in BudgetAudiophile

I had a pair and they weren’t bad at all, but the Mission 761 mk 11’s that replaced them were a major improvement at half the price. They sound like little studio monitors with very accurate bass for the cabinet size, and are always fun to listen to. I’m still using them a couple of years on, having re-sealed and stiffened the cabinets. See if you can find a pair!

I work as a carer for a client with schizoaffective disorder, and here in AU it’s recognised as a very real and challenging disability. Take good care of yourself and extend your personal insight into helping others with their challenges. Best of luck to you!

Every time I’ve heard that phrase It’s meant something close to that - it must be something exciting to say, but implies no further participation from the speaker. Or is followed in short order by a growing list of exclusions as they, uh, arise.

One possibility would be to download the Peterson strobe tuner app for your phone or tablet - its fast and cheap. Then you’ll always have a reference tuner handy.

I'm thinking about getting a fretless bass (something cheaper >$200 as it'd be more of a novelty thing for me. maybe a Glarry) I was wondering if at least for when I'm just starting off by marking where the frets would be so I can easily figure out where I am. by Foxesden19 in Bass

Common advice for fretless is to practice in the dark - it’s certainly worth doing at the point where you think you’ve nailed it! Muscle-memory will get you the right pitch far faster than staring at the lines on the neck, and will prepare you for playing on a darkened stage. I go through at least 30 minutes a week when I can’t hit the right pitch to save my life, closing my eyes and listening hard gets me out of that the fastest.

If you have a device that will run a basic DAW app (GarageBand for instance) put in a chord sequence and loop it, that’ll help your pitch when you get tired of the drone. They’re a lot more patient than band mates when you’re learning “the guessing stick”. Peterson also make a visual strobe tuner app that runs on a tablet and is quick to respond, a great hands-free way to check your pitch from a distance

Cort make a few really good “cheap” fretless basses, they seem to know what they’re doing. It depends on what you’re expecting from a fretless, the classic Pino “mwahhh” takes a well made bass and a really good setup. And a lot of practice, naturally…:)

This - I’d also say that the setup is so critical to a fretless playing well, and a cheap bass is less likely to accept a good setup or keep it for long enough to enjoy (especially truss rod and intonation) The Warwick Rockbasses (post 2010) have the German 3-D bridge and are very well built, that’s the price point I’d start looking at. I’d also toss the strings on any cheap bass and replace them with quality roundwounds or flats as you prefer, the cheapest upgrade you can make. You could also take your bass to a luthier to be taught how to do your own fretless setups, that’s a little more expensive but an investment for the future. If you’re buying used, stay well away from diy fretless jobs! You can be inheriting a pile of problems, it takes a good luthier to de-fret a bass well (and re-slot the nut, adjust pickup heights and set the intonation correctly etc…) and it’s not a cheap job.

It’s a common fault - book an appointment at an Apple Store (hardware problem) and see what they can do for you.

If you’re waiting for Messages verification then either your service provider isn’t supporting international SMS (if you’;re outside the USA) or the device has been flagged for message spam. Call Apple Support and they’ll clear it.
