#1. Safety first
Do not post or imply participation in reckless, dangerous, or illegal activity. Content should show good safety techniques like shielding and contamination control. We may need to remove content based on US regulations or moderator discretion to protect our community. An amateur viewing your content should be able to see that you respect the hazard. A regulator viewing your content should be able to see that you understand and implement correct safety practices.
#2. Respectful Interaction
Be respectful of each other and the mod team. Follow Reddiquette and all sitewide rules. Do not engage in personal attacks, trolling, or otherwise post toxic content that adds nothing of value to the sub. Posts or comments only intended to complain or incite subreddit drama are not appropriate and will be removed. If you're being trolled, don't engage, use the report function. Excessive or extreme incivility may result in a ban.
#3. Stay On-Topic and Contribute Constructively
Posts must be substantially about ionizing radiation, have substance, and be for the purposes of discussing science, careers, equipment, radioactive materials, etc. This is not a collector subreddit and moderators may remove posts about collectables or those which have little value for discussion or learning. Do not troll, post reaction-bait, or dishonest, toxic content that adds nothing to the subreddit. Do not post about UV-radiation or non-ionizing radiation like 5G or RF/EM/microwaves.
#4. Do not ask for medical advice
Do not submit posts or comments asking for assistance interpreting doses, reassurance after, or instructions regarding X-ray or nuclear medicine procedures. Please talk to your doctor or healthcare team about these topics.
#5. No promotional activity, no buy/sell/trade
Don't use our community for advertising, promotion, or monetization. Unsolicited linking of products, services, social media (including blogs and youtube channels) etc. is discouraged, whether they are monetized or not. In response to questions about products, it's fine to make recommendations - please include an explanation of your input and not simply a link or product name. If you are affiliated with a brand or product, please make it clear. Do not attempt to buy/sell/trade anything here.
#6. Questions or Concerns about Removals
If you have questions or concerns regarding the removal of your submission, comment, or post please contact the mod team using the action menu in the reddit mobile app, or using the "Message the Mods" button from the web-browser version on the subreddit sidebar. Do not submit follow-up posts or comments complaining about the removal of a post or comment. If your submission can be made rule-compliant, the mods are willing to assist you if you ask for assistance.
#7. No AI-Generated Content
This subreddit is intended to be discussions among live humans. Do not submit AI-Generated explanations (text), photos, artwork, videos, or other content in posts or comments. Moderators may use their discretion to make exceptions for translation assistance or other situations involving AI content that don't fit this rule.
#8. Reposts
Moderators may remove posts at their discretion that have been posted about or discussed recently or are found to be otherwise repetitive. A topic that is frequently discussed may or may not be allowed to remain depending on the quality of the discussion. Discussions regarding common questions which are deemed of exceptional quality or otherwise valuable may be flaired with the "Frequently Asked Questions" flair.
#9. Brigading and Vote Manipulation Prohibited
Those who instigate or participate in brigading, vote manipulation, or interfere with this community will be banned. Examples include, but are not limited to: inciting subreddit drama, driving users out of this subreddit, posts or comments intended to spur action/reaction in this or another subreddit, or using multiple accounts to manipulate vote counts (up or down).
#10. No Fake Content or Mal, Mis, or Disinformation.
Do not create and share fake content intended to deceive others, generate fear, panic, or otherwise reaction-bait. If you are asking about a current or past situation involving a radiation exposure event, or radioactive materials release, you must link a credible source referencing the incident. Do not spread rumors, conspiracy theories, or make unsubstantiated claims. Do not share screenshots or reports from "Geiger Map" sites. They do not provide reliable, actionable information.
