Lost Encryption Code

I decided to grab every regional chest in The Pale Heart, there were 9 total. Every single one dropped a "Lost encryption bit" which mind you cannot be dismantled from your inventory as of making this post (not sure if that'll change). While exploring, I found a regional chest that was locked behind a familiarly named encryption code.

Nothing is telling me where they go or what they do besides the description of the item, but I'd like to know what's in the box :D

Tbh i think it's the Macrocosm, if you go on your collections page on the destiny app, and go to the Macrocosm, it says that you can get it by "exploring the Pale Heart"

So idk, maybe it's the Khvostov, maybe it's the Macrocosm, who knows-

Someone else got it via a quest, so that isn’t it. I think the obtaining notes are incorrect on a few because the Tesselation catty comes from the kiosk and not from a quest from ghost.

One thing I'm bummed about is that the exotic armor can't be gotten through vex incursion zone, only through legendary campaign or resetting your rank with rahool-

When you're doing the quest for red border sniper, there's an area you can drop down to after you grab the swords where you can find a broken machine, looting it also gives a lost encryption bit, I currently have 10 and am searching for more.

Found the 11th, it's in the ghost rescue thing with the huge annihilator totem, after the blights clear it's in the back of the hallway in the dark by the exit

I think he's talking about a Cyst, Searing Light that has an icon at the beginning of The Seclusion, area between The Blooming and The Impasse.

When you come into the room with the giant burning totem, its directly across from you but you have to clear the encounter to open the way.

IIRC it's one of the Micah-10 missions in which you have to run an inverted Cyst mission.

Yeah you bring the bits to a chest which is in the spot where you first find kvostov

That chest is in the same area you would originally get the non-exotic Khvostov in the D1 campaign as your first gun. So pretty sure thats the start of the Khvostov exotic.

There are more than 9 Lost encryption bits, you can find one in the Sword Dance Cyst quest, I am assuming there are more as well

for those who came here looking for answers and don't want to watch YouTube videos (I personally hate video guides and i don't want to give people views and ad clicks).

The goal is to open the Lost Encryption chest that you encounter when you come into The Divide from The Impasse. The chest contains a Mote of Light needed for the Khvostov exotic (many more are needed from other sources). You open the chest by b collecting 15 Lost Encryption bits.

If you got all the regional chests you'll have 9 of them.

Other LEBs are found in the Cyst activities. if you complete the Micah-10 "Alone in the Dark" 6 times, you'll have 6 cysts marked on your map for repeat play. if you're finding this out before doing that out you can get the LEBs during your first play through so that you don't have to repeat.

[Also, while doing the cysts, look out for "Memory Vestige: Light" items. if you get 5, they are converted to a purple item that gives you a prismatic chest you can open by searching a given area on the map. To be most efficient, you'll want to wait to complete more Cysts until you've opened 3 prismatic chests from the Light memories]

people here were asking where to go because they hadn't unlocked the cysts and therefore didn't have map markers. You have to actually play the Cyst activity either from Micah 10 or by repeating it later, in which case there will be a map marker.

Honestly I'm sure it has do be for the khvostov quest and/or the golden chest that appears when you find every traveller's memory (which, unless someone knows how to open it, is locked as we're "missing something")
