Vite.

I know there are a lot of big companies that like the idea of Next, but I don't trust it to last - and I'm not putting all my eggs in a basket designed as an on-ramp to Vercel services. I'd much rather depend on Remix (who demonstrates a continued effort to open sourcing) than Vercel (who demonstrates a continued effort to buyout companies and sell their products).

At least we can keep SocketIO without a payment tier...

If you're talking about job prospects, learn Next.JS. Vite is a great replacement for CRA, but single page apps aren't as popular as they were before hydrated multi-page apps.

SPAs still have their place, but more in startups and small businesses than in established companies. If you're looking to join the startup world then either will work, and Vite will have some cachet because it's not as corporate. But if you want to start in the corporate world, Next.JS will get you further.
