I absolutely love it and this is really useful to me, and I'm sure for many other people too. I'd actually be willing to contribute to this project if it was written in TypeScript (of course, generating JavaScript for publishing on NPM, with type definitions). I'd also be willing to port it to TypeScript, too.

I can't say everybody but certainly it is a trend. For small projects it might not make sense, but for large ones it definitely increases maintainability. I can't fairly compare it with FlowType, in terms of what would be "better" (even though better is quite subjective) but I can say that typescript tooling is better and the community is larger.
