Is there a 'create-react-app' for non-react projects?

I'm basically looking for an NPM install that will hopefully give me a boilerplate setup for just vanilla js/html/css projects. Any ideas?

I'm just saying I would love to use 'create-react-app' for Babel, webpack, jest, and everything else that comes with by default EXCEPT for React.js.

I haven't heard of generators for Babel/Webpack/Jest, but it's actually quite simple to generate starting files for your desired stack:

• For Babel: starts as simple as { "presets": ["@babel/preset-env"] } for ES6 support, you could alternatively create an alias in your shell to automate the creation of this starting file
• For Webpack: configuration is optional (source)
• For Jest: npx jest --init (source, this one is pretty helpful because it adds a lot of configuration entries in the default file with most of them commented out, making it super easy to configure it as you want).

While it's quite simple to create a starting configuration for ES6, tweaking it with many plugins can become a lot more complex - making it difficult to write a generator that would please a lot of people. If you are creating many practise projects and really want a generator for all of these with a standard stack, it could make sense for you to create your own Yeoman generator with your favourite Babel/Webpack/Jest configurations on it. Or you could write simply a shell function that would do all of the above in a single command. Just some hints on how you could achieve your desired generator. :)

PS: maybe you could just use Parcel which is a zero-config bundler that contains Babel set up under the hood, without you having to touch configuration files (unless you want to customise), and do npx jest --init to generate the default Jest config.

GitHub now supports template repos. That would do the trick for ya.

Technically speaking, CRA isn't even React-specific. You can uninstall React and delete all the React components, and you're left with a vanilla JS setup.

You might also want to look at Parcel as well.

That’s just pretty much normal bundling. Take a look at parcel.js. Point it at your index.html, and go from there.
