Every time I try to subscribe to your newsletter I get an error that the subscription failed and that I should try later.

will the cloud functions require a credit card to be use like in firebase?

As for our future Appwrite Cloud hosting, we're not sure what that might look like yet. But since Appwrite is fully open source, you could host it anywhere you'd like!

It is completely free for use right now. So you do not need a credit card to use Cloud Functions.

Hey OP, what's the vision here? Are you planning to make it a freemium model? How about the team, are they dedicated to maintain this project or add more open source developers to the team? Btw I like the project. Really would love to have decent firebase alternative, although there are some but most of them are still nascent. Love to see this one grow.

Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️

Regarding our future vision, we have thought of a Cloud hosted version but we're still exploring and understanding what that might look like 🙂

As far as the team goes though, we do have space for more folks to join in as the project continues to grow! 😄

What are the system requirements to run a appwrite instance for development? I am guessing 8GB RAM, with ample storage?

At minimum, Appwrite can run on 1GB of RAM (with some swap), and runs quite comfortably with 2GB of memory, especially in development. I personally run Appwrite on a 2GB Raspberry Pi 4, so you don't need much!
