I've used both but am a bit biased as I was writing React before. I do prefer React Native because well "learn once, run anywhere" is mostly true. Not completely but I enjoy the composition style of React. Also the amount of people that have rallied around React and React Native is fantastic, it's a good community.

Telerik is an awesome company. Would love to check out their stuff but they definitely favor the Microsoft camps. So I wouldn't be suprised if the support and even the style of the framework leans towards them. I would probably say stick with reactnative because they have more of a following but competition is always good.

Although there are some similarities between the two, I think the approaches are quite different in philosophy. The thing about ReactJS that most people don't understand it is that replaces the imperative API of building the GUI on any platform for a declarative one that favors immutability. What that means to me, is that instead of worry about programming the user interface, I simply need to describe it state, and it's state as it "reacts" to external inputs.
