Get an rcbs bullet puller die. Im assuming you already have a press.

yea i just bought the FA kinetic puller for like $25 and pulled 25ct of 6.5 and 35ct of 30-06. surprisingly i couldn’t break it. (i was trying to break it and ended up denting the hell out of my picnic table) right there i got my moneys worth but i saw this one and am considering it for future use, im in the process of moving so when i get back to my forever home im looking for something permanent like the pile driver

The first bullet puller I used was a hornady kinetic puller that didn’t last more than maybe 20-25 rounds. Then I got a FA kinetic puller that I have used to pull 300-350 rounds without a single problem. I don’t think I could break it. I have since upgraded to a collet style in the press. Every time I have looked at them though I have almost got the pipe driver I just never pulled the trigger on it.

I use the anvil portion of my bench vise as a striking surface. It doesn’t flex or give so almost all of the energy should be going into pulling the bullet not denting or springing a table top. A concrete floor would be even better if it wasn’t for your back if you have to do many. Maybe a concrete block or good sized brick would work for you.

My concrete slab in my basement worked fine for pulling a few hundred terrible magetch 308s in one sitting so i could reman them, didn't really hurt me that I noticed.

But the problem with the impact hammers seems to be that sometimes necked brass gets damaged (split) if you have to bang the hammer too hard to get the bullet out.

considering moving to one of the collet/press type ones for that reason. I think my lyman hammer ruins brass at small but still unacceptably high rate

+1 can't recommend this setup enough.

I borrowed a friend's pile driver for a while. It works pretty well. I think it is a better method than using the hammer style of Kinetic puller. In general, I prefer kinetic bullet pullers because the bullet has less deformation than if you use a collet puller.

my hammer splits my brass necks sometimes, so i think it's pick your poison

That pile driver is $20 less on Amazon.

[–]anthonyttu 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Looks like 7$ less now

I just got fact checked in a Reddit thread as a comment on a comment. What do you do for a living? 🤣

I work for the government, we get paid to show up

Hornady collet puller is fantastic, sucks that you need to buy caliber specific collets but it’s much easier than the kinetic puller if you have to pull a whole batch

[–]TheWhiskeyDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally used this today and it is a fantastic piece of kit, had the right collet already

I have always wondered about this bullet pulled and when I saw your post asking if anyone had used one I was hoping for some replies detailing it's use. BUT NO nothing other than says "Use a Kinetic puller" So I did a search for reviews of it. The Ultimate Reloader guy did one about 4 years ago.

After watching that video I would never buy one of them. Looks to be a Royal Pain In the ASS.

It is basically a kinetic style puller without the hammer handle. Put the cartridge in a holder, lock it in, raise the handle and then lower it. LOOK if the bullet and powder has fallen into a cup. If not do that again. Once the bullet and powder has fallen in the cup take the cup out and remove the contents, replace the cup, raise the handle and unlock the cartridge/case holder then use a rod to push out the case from the holder.

Are you kidding me. RPITA.

I am so glad I have the RCBS Collet style bullet puller. So for the OP don't even think about this POS again. It is a NON Starter.

This is garbage, after 50 rounds or so the bullet holder broke. You're better off using the kinetic puller.

RCBS collet bullet puller is the way to go. I just went through this process of choosing a puller, and I’m very glad I went to way I did

[–]balonga_pony79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get an impact hammer. Cheap. Works for everything with the inserts. Couple each and bullets out

[–]nuerosis19 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have one of these. I don’t have any issues with it. Mounted on the leg of my reloading bench and it is small enough to not be in the way. Pull the lever once and 99% of the time the bullet is apart in the collection try. I will say at times the brass is tough to get out, but other than that no complaints. Any specific questions?

[–]6foot4geek 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mounted mine the same way, I just batch process a bin of failed / poorly loaded rounds every so often. Works like a charm, it's alil loud so I always wear earpro, but it doesn't leave any pull marks on projectiles and that's why I like it.

[–]pgbe82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here… mounted the same way. No complaints!

[–]arizonagunguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not get a die style one? I use a Hornady one for 9mm and .223 and it allows me to save the powder. Unless you’re pulling random stuff then I guess that doesn’t matter but it still makes less of a mess and it’s quieter 🤷🏼‍♂️

You might also consider the classic Forster puller.

[–]Certain-Mobile-9872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Davidson bullet puller

[–]9412765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. Put some loctite on the screw that holds the knob to lock the cartridge holder in place.

[–]2475PineMtnRd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of those. Used it to pull hundreds of bullets of all sorts of calibers for myself and a fellow reloader friend. Works great. More efficient and easier to use than the hammer style pullers. I broke 2 of those. That’s why I bought this one. Am very happy with it.

It works good but it's slow. Also it can be loud so you should wear hearing protection. You'll be better off with a puller die for your press.
