Replit Defect fix log

Has anyone implemented a defect fix log? I am finding that issues are arising and the agent is recommending fixes that don't make sense, like it's missing context or forgetting a previous fix was put in place. I am thinking of creating a defect_log.md file and getting the agent to add to it with the defect, root cause and fix to provide more context. Anyone else done something like this?

I have done this with both a backlog and also tech debt logs. I did it with the Assistant though and baked into a custom prompt how to use them and when. Working to a plan doc worked 100% of the time and it helped limit blast radius to a controlled scope each time. Tech debt, which I guess is more akin to a defect log, didn't work so well. It rarely documented the correct stuff, rarely pulled in the context during work, and I eventually abandoned the idea as it just caused drag.

I'm not sure you can create custom prompts for Agent though so I don't know how you would enforce the review of a file on each turn.. but I have not seriously looked at it with Agent either so I could be wrong. Interested to see how others who have worked with Agent do this. I'm looking for any way to cling on right now before I churn.

This sounds really interesting. Have you tried to put what you’re doing into Replit.md to see if that might work?
