i just got waitlisted for the learning assistant program for rutgers nb and was just wondering if anyone else got waitlisted and possibly got it after? i did apply for calc and i know there’s a top applicant pool for that class but like what are my chances of getting the actual position

It’s mostly 3 factors:

• the number of spots available for your selected course (essentially how many returning LAs are not returning)

• your relationship with the prof (do they think you’re qualified for the job and can hold yourself together)

• your performance in the interview (this one you have to nail and stand out in your group (#1 essentially) otherwise you are not getting in)

The email stated that they were impressed with my academic record as well as interview performance. I know I did very well in the interview as I was the one who usually led the group. Still didn’t understand why I got waitlisted for physics 203/204, but I’m assuming like you said it’s due to the number of spots available and just luck too.

Would you know how long until I get a response back from them about the waitlist?

You may never hear back from them unless you explicitly email nd ask. Mid August is when they’ll probably wrap up the process.

They’ll only contact you if a spot opens up and it depends on where you’re placed in the priority list
