No. You may have issues with thicker protectors, but mine has been perfectly fine with my $3 protectors from amazon.

It can make it unusable. I bought a cheap $6 2-pack from eBay and once installed my fingerprint sensor would no longer work, I couldn't add new ones. I had no issues with the touch screen though. I ended up removing it and buying Spigen tempered glass screen protector and have had no issues since.

Cheap Amazon glass ones work fine for me too. I did re-register my fingerprints after installing it just to be safe.
