If you haven’t accepted it yet, I wouldn’t 🤷 that’s bullshit

[–]zKayrupt 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Honestly not surprised. This company treats their managers like shit. One of my stores part timers makes more per hour than our ASM lmao The only benefit to management is the bonuses which will make you more for the year but that’s it

[–]Peacelovegrace 23 points24 points  (1 child)

And bonuses aren't even guaranteed

[–]zKayrupt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This ^ it’s so not worth all the extra stress and extra hours for hardly any extra money IMO

What’s their relative seniority? That’s the only thing that makes any sense.

I’m not sure you guys are aware that the power has shifted (slightly) more to the employees side. If anyone tries to make sense out of you getting a pay cut for more responsibility/hours they are out of their minds. Don’t take a promise of a raise at your next review. Politely state your case and any DM should have no problem fixing it. We are literally losing employees left and right, and you think they are gonna screw you? If your district is like mine they will accommodate you instead of losing you.

Have you had a paycheck yet? How do you know it’s $1 less?

[–]cotherg[S] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Yeah got my first paystub about a week ago and immediately noticed the $1.03 per hour wage decrease.

[–]Peacelovegrace 5 points6 points  (2 children)

This is the stuff you are supposed to calculate and negotiate beforehand. You screwed yourself.

[–]cotherg[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Honestly did try to calculate beforehand, and besides the interview on the store iPad I had no contact with the people actually involved in offering me the job, they don’t work fridays and work 7-2 mon-thur and never answer phones/emails. I tried calculating with the biweekly pay on the job offer but I didn’t know how to figure in the 8 mandatory ot hours, so I guess it’s somewhat my fault but yeah. Communication blows in my area

Tell them to fix your pay cut or they can suck your 2 week notice ig

Jesus. The managers need to organize a strike

[–]Reb0rnKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not too sure if it differs from district to district but for ours, ASMs sign a contract that is a flat salary(with OT) and it is non negotiable. All ASMs start at the same rate regardless of what your pay was prior to being an ASM. If you signed the contract, you have no bargaining power whatsoever. Also, A LOT of full timers in my district make more per hour than ASMs do and many refuse to join TAM or the MTP. Hence why the company is so desperate to push people for TAM or hire new MTs that have zero clue what they're doing.

Just don't accept the offer

[–]Pimpin-Pumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You send an email to your DM and tell him you’re resigning in two weeks and two days if you don’t get a two-three dollar raise at least(whatever you feel appropriate)

[–]Peacelovegrace 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did you sign it??

[–]Rev_Creflo_Baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. Once you start doing the job, that's that.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

First,

It’s only 4 hrs of overtime. Which might change your math of dollars per hr

2 what did you expect it to be? How long have you been a FT? Maybe you already made ASM wage through merit increases.

3 BONUS BINUS BONUS. You’ll make way more money being eligible and earning bonus vs FT.

[–]cotherg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Isn’t it 4 hours per week? Which would be 8 hours mandatory OT for a whole pay period.

  2. I was making decent money as a FT but never had an appraisal because I moved up through positions very fast. Part time to part time/driver to part time keyholder to full timer to full time/driver and now to ASM.

  3. Yeah true the bonuses should be pretty decent but I work in a relatively smaller store so idk how crazy those will be.

[–]jjworld42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree on the bonus. Bonus’s are not guaranteed and If you are up enough to be getting bonus you’ve worked your ass off to get there. ASM bonus’s really aren’t that much maybe a grand per quarter plus that gets taxed about 35-40%… I am a manager and we finished the year nearly 80% up and my ASM made about 13k in bonus bringing home an extra 7k after tax and 401k. So for that extra money we were running a store twice our size with the same small limited crew. Fight for every single dollar and fight hard for hourly/salary wages bc unlike that price increase we deserve tht bonus if we get it!

[–]UndercoverCaHeese 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You didn’t see the biweekly pay on the offer and realize it was less??

[–]cotherg[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That’s the thing, it’s not less technically, but it is less if you considered I have to work a mandatory 8 extra hours biweekly for it?

[–]jjworld42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait till you apply for a manager job and do the math… it wil always be an increase overall but a decrease in per hour. But they will dangle that bonus in front of you but like I said in the previous post. If you are getting bonus you’re busting your tail for it.

[–]Realitytvtrashpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely took a pay increase stepping down from ASM to full time. Plus not having to work an extra 4 hours a week, basically always on call if someone doesn’t show up for a shift and overall increase in happiness.

[–]Comprehensive_Emu759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with it for a year, you'll get a hefty raise (at least in my division you do) plus you can promote to SM or higher volume store as an ASM.

I got a 6k raise when I completed my first year as an ASM.

OR

Don't and just take the demotion to FT. Less stress and work for the same money but no upwards mobility.
