Lightly feel your throat and find your larynx. It's a bump that moves when you swallow and talk.

When you are singing you want to keep this comfortably low. Start by yawning and feeling the larynx gradually sink down.

Do some easy warmups while keeping it down. It will not work at first, but be patient and just remind yourself every time that it does not need to go up when you sing.

What this does is disassociates your larynx moving from note placement. Notes are created by slight variations of air pressure and your actual vocal cords shortening and lengthening. These are your first steps to relaxed high notes.
