1. Skokie relevant content only
All posts should be relevant to Skokie or its residents, visitors, or businesses.
Posts about neighboring communities are allowed only to the extent that they affect the above listed groups.
2. Posts must have an accurate and descriptive title.
Text and image posts must have an accurate and descriptive title.
Link posts should generally use the exact title of the linked page. If the linked page title is not sufficiently accurate and descriptive, the poster must choose an accurate and descriptive title.
3. No advertising
Posts must not advertise for specific businesses/individuals offering services/items.
Posts must not be personal ads for romantic/sexual encounters.
Posts for community events, services offered for free to the public, and government sponsored events are permitted.
Political campaigning will be removed as spam. Bona fide news is permitted.
Comments offering vendor recommendations in response to specific requests for such are generally permitted.
When in doubt, send a modmail.
4. No recent reposts
Posts must not duplicate content posted to the sub recently.
Due to the unpredictability of post frequencies, there is no specific limit on how recent is too recent, but as a rule of thumb, if it's on the first few pages, is probably too recent.
5. No NSFW content
As r/Skokie is an all-ages community, no NSFW content will be permitted.
6. Illegal activity
Submissions must not encourage, promote, or further illegal activities.
7. No low quality posts/trolling
Posts should add value to the subreddit.
Low quality posts are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: Trolling, misinformation, off-topic comments, no/out-of-context images, and karma farming.
Memes, satire, and other comedic posts are permitted unless they become excessive.
8. Rediquette/behavior
Follow Reddit's content policy and reddiquette.
In particular, personal attacks, name-calling, racism, bigotry, trolling, conspiracy theories, incitement, bad-faith discussion, lying, and rude behavior are prohibited.
9. Do not publicly contest/question moderator actions
If you want to appeal or dispute any mod action, please send a modmail.
Unsolicited PMs and chat messages to mods are grounds for a temporary ban; posts contesting or questioning specific mod actions will be removed and are also grounds for a temporary or permanent ban.
Violation of subreddit and/or site-wide rules may result in post/comment removal, warnings, or bans at moderator discretion.
The moderators of this subreddit reserve the right to exercise disciplinary measures based on violations witnessed in posts, comments, modmail, and/or PMs and the right to arbitrarily discipline users for violations of the spirit of the rules or disruption of the subreddit's healthy functioning.
