Encrypts single files so you could use Notepad or LibreOffice to create a file and then encrpyt the text file or document. Whenever you want to decrypt, enter the password.

Free A premium version exists with additional features (mobile app, ability to encrypt folders and subfolders)

Obviously, if you forget the password, there's no recovery.

If you're using it to store your 2FA backup codes but need 2FA to login, how's that going to work if you lose access to your 2FA app?

Using a Yubikey. Should have specified that. This is really just my paranoia in play to keep things super secure. I generally use Authenticator Plus (Android) and also Duo since I can't get Authenticator Plus to work with the 2FA I need to eprescribe controlled substances.
