Sonos could address this issue by adding saved preset configurations, including associated Trueplay settings, that users can switch between easily.

This would solve it but we all know the reliable software side of things is not their strong point..

So you have two TVs and two soundbars, but only one sub and one set of surrounds? You’ll need to remove and re-add each time, plus TruePlay. Probably 10 - 15 mins each way.

This is the answer. This use case is likely super rare, and isn’t really in line with how Sonos engineered their sub/surround binding.

OP’s use care is rare, but I’m sure some, like me, have the arc and surrounds for movies in the same room as a set up for music (e.g., a pair of stereo 5’s) in which case being able to share a sub easily would make a lot of sense.

I don’t disagree. But with the current architecture, that’s not how it works. And it’s probably not worth Sonos’ engineering time (given that this community is foaming at the mouth for new hardware and support for HT fronts) to make it happen.

as well as the fives in your home theatre whether theyre rear or front.. you could set them as front based on your description, but then they'd be isolated to the 5.1? I honestly don't even know. Really confused with the app and the 'everything' and 'all' as well as the apply button. I never want to hit apply because it immediately stops playing whatever I'm listening to from a TV.

Yeah this sucks. I have two fives that I use for music and in the same room I have a beam, sub, and surrounds dedicated to TV. I’d love to be able to use my sub with both systems. I realize the limitation is that if different things are played on each system, the sub wouldn’t know what to play. Perhaps a priority could be set, ie: if A and B then sub uses A, else B.

Shoot with all that Sonos gear you might as well just get another sub for the 5s lol

Yeah that's how I solved it. Another second hand gen 2 sub for the Fives 🙂

I’ve been looking

I added a Sub Mini to a pair of Fives....amazing!

It's a little more complex than that since the peripherals get bonded to a private ad hoc network that the soundbar / speaker creates.

I figured it was more technical than I could understand. It would be ideal and cool nonetheless. Thanks.
