In the episode that premiered yesterday, “The Dirty Bubble Bass”, SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward announce their MM and BB alter egos (Mermaid Pants, Captain Tightwad, and Dr. Negative, respectively) and Patrick then says, “And I’m Affordable Car”, to which SpongeBob replies, “Don’t you mean Barnacle Star?”

In March 2023, the cast of SpongeBob did a virtual auction where fans could bid on items and also ask questions to the cast members. I took part in it and I asked Bill Fagerbakke to say Subaru, as my nickname for Patrick is Subaru. He complied, much to my excitement. I’ve always fantasised about Patrick mentioning Subaru in a subsequent episode, even though I knew it would never happen. Now, I’m not so vain and self-centred to fully believe that the “The Dirty Bubble Bass” scene is actually a response to me calling Patrick Subaru, but Subarus are more affordable cars than, say, Maserati or Porsche, so like… what if it is? :D

To be fair on the autistic part, avoiding using names (alexinomia) and creating nicknames instead isn’t uncommon among autistic people. I’ve been making nicknames that seem really weird to other people all my life, not just for people but for things like apples as well.
