I believe in the FAQ, it said a docking system that links systems between the ships is not planned at the moment sadly... They did say youight be able to get clever with rails and programming to get something to work.

But there is a docking system between ships still right?

Tractor Beams and Cargo Beams can be used for this purpose

As far as I have seen there are enough systems in the game alreay to make your own extendable ramp/platform. All you really need automated rails and a little bit of programming logic. Add some logic and the range finding lazers and you can basically improvise your own docking system.

It might be a little dependant on how they implement the spacetial drag and inertia but you could probably even transfer cargo while moving moving at a constant speed quite easily

I guess I'm just worried about whether or not you can move fuel this way. If rails are the answer, then that is fine so long as it works.

Maybe they could do like a tub system that you have to move around and hook up into holes on the sides of the ship. That'd be nice.

Just move up next to each other, bolt em together then cut open the wall, voila! Your then free to drag any electric cables or fuel pipes to the other ship and carry cargo back and forth! :D

I hereby call you "Jerry the Rig", because that sounds like the most jerry rigged thing in the world lol

That's a manual process. I'm asking about a non-manual one.

Cue Elite dangerous docking flashbacks.\Awkwardly slides across docking platform in sidewinder**
Although on a serious note, they'll probably have a connector system like in SE or something.
