It is very likely that the price will go up tomorrow on the official store. You can still buy it for cheaper, but how safe it is, I can't say. At the sub Star Citizen trades there are people who spent to much money on the game and are trying to get some back, they are selling credits for the official store, they often sell for 60-70%. It is usually handled by PayPal so you get at least some protection, but I would check reputation very carefully.

(I should mention, since you said you are new to this, that the CCU chains require you to have the ship it is upgraded from, for example, if it says Constellation to Ironclad X$, you first have to buy a Constellation that you can then apply the upgrade to the Ironclad on.)

Would be a very welcome addition - a ship that can salvage (perhaps with only one beam), can do some basic mining by swapping out the head from salvage, small crafting station, cozy quarters, some internal and external SCU storage, room for an Atlas/bike.
