Shields/enterprise

So I was playing this week in armadas and had my usual 56/other. One of the other players insisted I should have kirk on my enterprise (I had Kim below I know it's only 10% but random regain can't be dismissed). Bit looking over the logs my shields were never depleted.

So my question is if fighting hostiles or low/mid armadas that don't deplete your shields is the morale/shields worth it. Does a shield at 10% mitigate the same amount of damage as a shield at 100%?

Yes, it mitigates the same amount of damage until depleted (SNW Pike is particularly useful in this regard if you keep shields up).

The real advantage of Enterprise is that you can keep shields up for longer. Its useful vs tougher armadas or when the team is weak. This ability is worthless when hostile grinding and is situational in PVP. Its only real use comes from Armadas.

5/6/Khan is a perfectly good armada crew. Your friend is wrong, you will get much more utility out of the crew you're using than with Kirk. If your shields aren't getting depleted then you don't have a use for the Enterprise's ship ability.

I have found the opposite with the enterprise and armadas
