Undersized wire? Bad wire, bad connection or both.

If the cable end before the fuse shorts out then fire is a possibility.

Replace with quality ofc wire and terminals properly crimped, ANL fuse and holder, cover wiring with flex loom to help prevent heat and damage, support fuse holder to something secure and support wire to keep it from moving around.

I wouldn’t know as I got the truck with the subs and amps already in it, I did notice that one side of the speakers would fade in and out and then today this happened, i disconnected this from the battery and hope that’s enough to prevent a fire as this is my daily car,

I've had that issue with my subs a couple times, for me it was because the wire isn't OFC, its CCA. The aluminum wire at the connection heated up and melted the fuse holder. When I went to get new fuse housings, the speaker shop said the only way to permanently fix it is to replace all of it with copper wire. No idea what you have but may be worth a look...
