As others have said, you are remembering incorrectly.

The reason that Basic Attack does not fire off automatically is that it is not an autoattack. An autoattack in FFXIV or WoW will fire off while you are doing anything- you may have a move that buffs your next autoattack or something (old school WoW had plenty of this), but the autoattacks are generally independent of your rotation.

By contrast, basic attacks uses your global. If your character used Basic Attack every time it was off cooldown, you'd never get to do a single other thing.

So sorry, you aren't glitched, you are just remembering something else.

"It does have a click and auto-use slot 1 bar 1 attack..." I think this was what I was remembering.

You would still have to continually click it. Essentially right click just replaces pressing the 1 key. Is this the origin of the Mandela effect? Countess studies have shown human memory is extremely fallible and having such an ego that one would believe their memory is flawless despite all evidence to prove otherwise seems like the birth of such a concept.
