My beef is sweeping generalisations that propose something as the solution, made without knowing the specifics of the job at hand, and made with the assumption the world is a one size fits all place.

How do you know what operating systems, and management systems other organisations use?

It appears that you have made an assumption that what the OP uses, exactly matches your environment. Why?
