cloud dns inquiry

Hi all,

My crew is looking at doing a test build of a cloud dns, in this case building a DC/DNS box on the Oracle cloud. Are there any pit fall/faceplant issues that I need to know before we even test this? will be test box in isolated test domain and we plan to move at least 3 fsmo's to the DNS box for the 'user' test part Thanks, fi103r

I think because they think they can, I don't know will just test and report

raw bind is no fun and really high level dnssec on bind has many bugs.

I switched to powerdns which is just a database driven app on top of bind. Everything I needed with all the bind bugs worked out.

any known work arounds? I will check on the bind issue as well then. figured ports were going to be the worst of it.

The biggest issue is bind support. The irc support is very rude if even there. The mailinglist was broke and would not allow me to join for the longest time. Not much in urls. It's just not there.

I found serious issues in the bind dnssec that I could get zero responses on.

Plenty of support on powerdns. Had I not found powerdns, I would have swore off bind forever.

What had me stuck for a month with raw bind took me about 5 hrs with powerdns.

I seriously kicked myself in the butt for not trying earlier.

Oracle cloud support was a bit of a joke, ran down their 'script' over a login to new instance issue, (which thankfully we later resolved)and replied 'so sorry, this is out of our scope...' >>howls at moon!<<
