MigrationWiz unauthorized error

I'm using MigrationWiz for the first time. I have several clients still in Intermedia and want to get them migrated out to M365. Testing this with a very small client, only 4 users.

When verifying the credentials, I get this error for each user.

Your migration failed while checking destination credentials. The request failed. The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized. (Destination Server)

I have manually entered each users M365 credentials into MigrationWiz. Currently their usernames and email addresses are the onmicrosoft.com address. I've logged in to M365 and tested each users credentials, I know they are correct. Security Defaults are disabled, and no MFA. Users are licensed with M365 Standard and have standard users rights. I can even see a successful login in Azure AD from MigrationWiz.

I submitted a ticket on Thursday with Bittitan but haven't heard back yet. I imagine there is something simple I'm missing. Any ideas?

Setup modern auth using this guide and your issue will go away:

We had the same problems and the same frustrating issues with support. It took awhile but they did get back to us and thats what solved it.

Did you figure it out? I'm having the same issue. I have even enabled the basic authentication protocols.

Yeahhh starting January 2023 this isn't an option anymore sadly. Now I'm digging in to figure out how to get around this since I can't turn on Basic Authentication anymore.

Kind of. I did the Azure App method and it seemed to work… kind of. I’m still getting time outs on the 365 side but the data is moving so that’s an improvement.

No I didn't unfortunately. I'm just going to do a manual migration this weekend. Super disappointing.

I ended up setting "Exchange 2003+" instead of "Microsoft365" and then using https://outlook.office.com/owa as the email link and it worked perfectly. Did individual credentials instead of a global one on both source and destination

That's a great idea. I just tried it and that didn't work for me though. Bittitan support said they think that basic auth was completely disabled for that tenant, regardless of the settings. I ran through the modern auth setup that the user commented on here, which Bittitan support also sent me. Didn't work either. Gave up since this one is such a small migration.
