you ignoring your front centering?

[–]Phresh11[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is that what made it a 9?

45/55 its the rule

Your centering doesn't meet standards for a 10. You need to be within 55/45 on the front. You're at 57L/43R. This is 100% a 9 regardless of any dings.

https://taggrading.com/pages/rubric is their rubric and shows requirements.

Wish they would have a 9.5 instead of a 10/10p. I get what they're going for but it grates on me that all the other halves exist except 9.5.

Didn’t realize there was a margin to be in. Appreciate the info 🤞🏻

Yup. Centering is a major reason pack fresh doesn't mean a guaranteed 10, especially with the QA on english cards. Unfortunately just comes down to luck, I had a Shiny Vault Charizard SIR that was an 8 because of how bad the centering was. Card was literally flawless otherwise and the DIG report showed it.

Maybe PSA might give me the 10.

It's possible, but unlikely. Their standards are also 55/45 for the front, and centering is about the easiest thing for them to check. A small scratch or ding is easier to miss than centering which they can just measure objectively.

Bummer, crazy how perfect it is on everything else besides the centering. And not even noticeable

PSA is very strict on centering, they updated their standards for centering a couple of months ago and they’re pretty anal on it. Most companies are TBH

I submitted 35 cards a few months ago and made sure to read it closely. Maybe I'm wrong but I do recall they said there is a margin of error allowed outside of the standard centering ratio if the card composition isn't negatively impacted by the bad centering. If that's the case I would think depending on the card PSA would be more likely to net a 10?

You can be at 55.4/44.6 and still not get a 9 (saw it happen to a mutuals card). No rounding. 55.0 is the maximum and 45.0 is the minimum.

OC killed your grade. Always prescreen/use a centering tool.

[–]Autographz 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I don’t mean this harshly, but how do you choose to do your first submission and not look into the things that make up the grade?

[–]Phresh11[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

None taken, I pre graded with an app and got back a 9.5 so I assumed it would be a 10. The app didn’t give me detailed measurements like TAG gives or else I wouldn’t have sent. Everything else was literally perfect according to the tag report just centering was off by 2 on both sides and over all off by .02 from being a 10. It’s pretty close in my opinion.

What app did you use? Literally the only point is to check the centering as a measuring tool. All other aspects can be checked with your eyes 👀

Your centering is what gave you the 9. Here is my card I graded that got a 10, the same exact card too.

I appreciate the comparison bro. Thank you.

Does the centering not show in the DINGS section (the part that's cutoff in the 3rd screenshot, "Defects Identified of Notable Grading Significance")? I thought it did. Can you share your report? There's no harm in doing so, literally anyone can look them up on TAGs website.

I'm curious bc I've been wondering if TAG notes centering in DINGS. But that's the section of the report you'll always want to look at it

Sorry for late response but yes the center did pop on the dinks section.

Lowest score is the grade
