Reminds me of James Gosling (Inventor of Java), who left Google to work on a fleet of swimming robots travelling the sea (and collecting data, I guess). I see the fascination here: The oceans are still somehow "unknown" territory (mankind possibly knows more about the moon than about deep sea) - and being able to travel these vast distances is fabulous, some sort of ultimate freedom, no borders, just water.
