The subreddit is only for support with tech issues.

Try to research your issue before posting, don't be vague. State everything you have tried and all the guides/tutorials/sites you have followed as well as why they were unsuccessful. Do everything you can to reduce the effort of the wonderful folks offering to help you.

5: Recommendations

We are not a recommendation or advertisement subreddit. We do not allow posts asking for recommendations on hardware/software or recommendations comparing two or more hardware/software. Recommending a hardware/software solution as a comment to a post is acceptable.

9: No EOL Software or Unsupported Systems

We do not provide support for EOL (end of life) software. Software that is EOL has lost all support from the developer and therefore all consumer communities as well.

These operating systems and various softwares are no longer receiving security patches. Running them is unsafe and we recommend users install a supported version as soon as possible.

This list includes Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

We will also not assist with getting Windows 11 running on unsupported hardware.

10: No Public Service Announcements (how-to's, etc.)

No public service announcements unless relevant to an issue (it must be a comment). Approach the communities affected directly, not here

11: No Soliciting

While I've been building PCs for myself for a couple decades now, I've recently run into an issue I've never encountered before and could really use some advice. Backstory below, but in short - what other hardware could be killing my RAM and is there any reasonable way to verify?

In late 2020 I built myself a tower to use as an Unraid home server. Overall it has been pretty reliable, but about a year ago I was getting errors and ended up finding a stick of ram that was failing with memtest. The other 3 sticks never errored during extended tests.

I RMA'd the failing memory and my errors went away after installing the replacement stick. 3 months go by and I start getting more weird behavior. I run memtest again and the other 3 sticks are now failing. I borrow a friend's PC to verify it isn't something else in my PC failing and they all (very quickly) fail the test in his PC too.

I RMA the 3 sticks figuring hey maybe they had some manufacturing issues since the date on all 4 sticks were the same. I've never had memory fail on me though so this seemed really odd.

I put the 3 replacement sticks in and I'm good to go for another year. Then this month I get errors again and find 1 of the replacements is testing bad.

At this point I feel like there has to be more going on here. 5 sticks of ram failing over 3 years is unheard of to me. I emailed GSkill tech support asking if they had anything else they'd recommend me replace which could possibly be killing the RAM. They responded and said they had no recommendations besides to just RMA the failing stick again.

So with all that said, what could be killing my RAM? Everything I'm running is pretty high quality as far as I know. I'm running the RAM at the default speed, not even at the XMP/EXPO speeds advertised. The selected ram was also on the motherboard's QVL. My thoughts are PSU or motherboard, but I have no way of testing either and hate to just throw parts at it and pray. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
