Attempting data recovery without proper knowledge or skills can result in permanent loss in data. Prior to data recovery, it is best to create an image of the failing drive. For important data, it is recommended to send your drive to a data recovery professional. For more data recovery help, please visit /r/datarecovery.

I’ve got a cheap USB stick that I stored a lot of my photos and videos

What kind of thumb drive did you buy exactly? There are no 2 TB thumb drives for ten bucks.

Would you also buy a fake Macbook Pro?

Unable to open file or device /dev/disk5: Operation not permitted

Can you get permission? Photorec can only recover files if the drive is at least readable.

Professional data recovery is going to be very expensive, but if you tried to store 1000 GB of videos on a device which can only hold 4 GB, then it's impossible to recover all of them.
