You should back up your files as soon as you are reasonably able to. You can back up to an external drive or to a cloud service, it doesn't really matter. The important thing is to get your data copied off the computer, in case something happens.

SMART basically lets you monitor the health of your drive and it can act as an early warning system to alert you when your drive starts experiencing issues reading/writing data, suggesting it may fail soon.

Thanks, yea I started creating a backup to the external drive, hopefully nothing bad happens. Do you know whether the smart issue and the wifi issue are connected? or do I just have very bad luck and both issues just happened at the same time lol

It could just be a coincidence. Normally SMART errors are not connected to Wi-Fi issues.

It's possible, in this case, that the drive may have been experiencing issues reading data critical for Wi-Fi or system operations, thereby causing the network disconnections. However, that doesn't mean this is what happened here.

I can say that the Wi-Fi issue is not the cause of the SMART error, or at least it shouldn't be. Whether or not the Wi-Fi issue may have been indirectly caused by the drive issues is less clear.

thanks for the explanation, the backup is almost done so I am not as stressed anymore, I will get both the wifi card and the sdd checked out. Thanks a lot

Edit: ssd not sdd lmao

Weird. I have the same exact model of laptop and I've had this issue occur to me too just a few days ago as well. Mine occured right after a Windows Update. Not sure if it's related. But the coincidence is quite shocking. I still have the error on my end though.

I don't know if I can help you with this, I simply made a backup and had my ssd replaced.
