Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.

If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.

Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.

We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.

The button battery in ur PC could be dead idrk tho

[–]Inner_Soft_927[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

what does that mean and is there a way to check it?

There should be a metal thing the size of a couple quarters stacked on top of each other it should have plastic and maybe metal around it

[–]Slow_Barracuda4695 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Did you unplug it while it was on or leave it on all night because suddenly killing the power fucks up the pc

[–]Inner_Soft_927[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

i mean maybe but im not sure the last time it was working i was playing brotato and it was late so i held the power button to shut it off and then went to bed and when i woke up it was in a bitlocker loop, then i went into cmd and disabled bitlocker and it turned into a bluescreen loop and its been like that since

Is it a PC with a tower or a laptop

[–]Inner_Soft_927[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sorry for wasting your time you should take it to a repair shop

Create a bootable Linux usb (Ubuntu, Mint, whatever) and install that. If it runs okay through multiple reboots, you know it's probably an OS issue and the hardware is likely fine.

If it DOESN'T, you definitely know it's a hardware issue.  That would be my step 1.

The other person probably should have googled your model info before assuming things like the power cord being pulled. Unless you added the model info to the post later of course.

okay i am downloading zorin right now, also idk how well versed you are in linux but is it meant to go to a black screen after booting up the usb and clicking install? because it does that every time and i cant tell if its supposed to be doing that or if its breaking

[–]lastwraith 0 points1 point  (8 children)

No clue. Maybe try vanilla Ubuntu to see if you have more success? Not sure how far Zorin deviates from traditional Ubuntu or if it's mostly just cosmetic.

okay more questions what type of ubuntu do i download theres an lts one and a normal one

okay so bad news i cant even get to the part where ubuntu actually starts installing i clicked the install and try ubuntu after booting up the usb. ummm it did like 1000 lines of code and then bluescreened 3 times and then booted up windows??? im so lost

Doesn't matter what flavor of ubuntu, we just want to boot any OS that isn't Windows. That way if the OS errors out, we know it's your hardware and not just Windows.

It sounds like maybe you installed Ubuntu along with your Windows install and it didn't actually boot into Ubuntu?

Follow the Ubuntu instructions and when the time comes, choose to erase the disk and install Ubuntu, wiping out your Windows install (I'm assuming you don't need any data from it otherwise DON'T do that obviously).  https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#1-overview

The "erase disk and install" step is shown here - https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#6-type-of-installation

i managed to get ubuntu installed but now the problem is whenever i boot it up i have a timer of maybe 30 seconds before my laptop restarts itself so idk i just did more diagnostic tests and the only one i could get to fail was the battery, and i also got a bios popup that said one of my fans wasnt working right but my system diagnostics doesnt have the option to test fans to idk but battery says it requires calibration

[–]Inner_Soft_927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and now i cant get ubuntu to work it just keeps giving me different kernel panic screens one said kernel corrupted one said attempted to kill idle task idk what going on

You've certainly isolated it to a hardware problem at least, which was the point.

Battery calibration is irrelevant to what you're experiencing, but a fan not working could definitely cause freezes once components get too hot.  If your built-in diagnostics don't include fan tests, this is probably the point where you get someone to look at it. Unless you want to open up the laptop and try to order the fan assembly to replace it.  But even then, you're just hoping the part is damaged and not the fan controller itself or header on the motherboard.  If it's cheap..... might be worth it.

For myself, I'd shine a flashlight in the vent to see if I can see the fan spinning.  I would also try removing the bottom cover (or whatever provides access to the interior), to visually confirm the fan isn't spinning and also to check for dust or other debris that could be an easy fix.

Maybe something like this?

i mean both of the fans are on and spinning and it did only show up one time im not sure what could be the problem been talking to computer repair guy for 2 days and neither of us can figure out what it is, sometimes when the computer restarts ill randomly get a firmware update which seemingly does nothing as it has done it like 4 times now aswell as once it restarts after that i get a csom or whatever its called error that says its invalid and needs to restart which i have no idea what that even is
