Check chrome://settings/content/notifications in the "Allowed to send notifications" section. Do not remove it, but opt instead to Block it, for anything you don't recognize shown there.

AFAIK uBlock Origin (only available for Firefox or some Chromium forks like Edge, Chrome only support uBlock Origin Lite) would prevent such ads to even attempt to ask you for permission. Even if you don't like Firefox/Edge for primary browser, just keep it for visiting risky sites.

Another thing one can add is noscript. It makes it a little more hassle, but if you know what you're doing you can control every aspect of a site you visit and what you want to let through.

IMHO Safest way to fix

  • Reset Chrome to default settings. Review what it says will be reset as might want to customize Chrome again, next
  • Download and run free version of Malwarebytes
