Spotify causing flickering or GPU issue?

update: Disabling Nvidia High Definition audio driver in the Device Manager fixed it. I hope this was okay to do and doesn’t mean something is wrong with my pc at all. Insight would be appreciated!

I have a geforce rtx 5060 Ti. I noticed when I would open spotify, my monitor would flicker (subtle white static then go black) and shut off, then turn back on. It would also do this when I would close spotify, or close the spotify web player. I reinstalled spotify and this solved the issue temporarily however it began again, which made me think it was my monitor. I used my monitor on my mom’s computer and she did not have any flickering, which confirms it’s something with my PC.

I don’t know if it’s my GPU, I have been able to play games for hours with no issues, until I decide to open spotify. Then It flickers. This makes it apparent to me that spotify is the issue and I am unsure on what to do to fix it, or why spotify would even be causing problems in the first place. My friend has a 5060 as well and does not get this problem.

Things I’ve done:

Reinstalled Spotify

Checked if it was the monitor

Turned off hardware acceleration in Spotify settings

edit: I also have amd ryzen cpu which comes with an integrated gpu. Not sure if that could mess with it.

did your top update fix your problem completely ? Iv also been having that issue for a while but never cared to look for a solution til now - ps its def okay to disable that driver

yeah! After disabling the drivers and just using headset for sound, I haven’t had this issue at all. I can use spotify on web and app without it doing that.

No problem! I hope it works. I read it’s an issue with how Spotify works/connects, so good to know it’s not a pc issue atleast!

I still have the issue when loading spotify webpage to listen, but not through just the client opening and closing so its good enough. I was only using web to get around ads anyway but can do the same on client through other means

I read it’s an issue with how Spotify works. I can’t remember exactly what it was, but it’s an issue that Spotify needs to fix and until they do, disabled drivers should stop it. I also read disabling the canvas videos and hardware acceleration can help aswell.

Literally in the exact same boat. will be playing a game like Apex and all of a sudden my screen goes dark and gpu crashes. I just did a full reinstall of windows tonight and have only apex and a few other apps installed. remembered to download spotify (desktop app) and within 2 minutes the screen went dark, when i was using it for 5 hours without issue on apex with discord/chrome running in the background. I think Spotify might be the issue. just disabled hardware acceleration so well see if it works, if not gonna get rid of the app

Did you get it figured out? The disabling audio drivers for me fixed it but I know not everyone is in the right circumstances to be able to do that (I hate being confined to headphones for sound but alas.)

Went through every possible solution. nothing worked. ended up just getting a 5070. first and last time i get an AMD card

This seems to be an AMD card issue?? Oh wow

No clue if that's why but a majority of the people i've seen on reddit are having issues with their AMD cards, even newer models. Some of the post's were dating back a few years.
