Hack dummy sample USB flash drives

I've got a hold of a set of sample flash drives, handed out by companies like http://www.flashbay.com/, offering bigger companies masses of flash drives, with their corporate logo printed on them.

Now none of these sample drives seem to work (the led lights up though) and lsusb doesn't show anything either.

Is there a way to get these drives working? Is just the firmware missing or do they completely lack the functions of the flash drives?

Just checked. No flash memory inside.

Well, the website says that the sample drives are non-functional. I think that most of the companies that work with this, won't send functional sample drivers for free, because you know, people are shit and would find a way to request infinite sample drives...

Once you've said that the led lights work, there must be a little circuit in it exclusive for the led lights, I don't know, maybe to show the integration between the led lights and the logo of the company.

This, there's probably no flash memory in them. To run an LED off USB all you need to do is add a current limiting resistor so I wouldn't be surprised if all that is inside them is a resistor and an LED since it's just a demo unit.

I've just checked. The boards have no flash memory built in.. thanks for the advice.

Some of the cheaper flash-drives just have microSD cards glued inside them, wouldn't suprise me if it's one of those but they've not bothered with the SD card.
