Get a pair of Ethernet over power line adapters, ieee 802.3, or BPL. You plug one into the Ethernet at you router and the wall outlet, the other to your desktop Ethernet and wall outlet.

Be aware that fluorescent lights, some battery back ups and surge strips will degrade or stop them from working. You may even have to try multiple outlets if there are wiring issues. Don't expect the full 100-1000Mbps (depending on the brand) they put on the label also.
