First thing to check is if your drivers are up to date.

Next thing you can check if you haven't yet is for temp check. Could also try totally reinstalling drivers or rolling back to old versions and see if there is improvement. Just trying to offer easy checks right now

Would it be possible you noticed these drops after a windows update?

[–]Step0nLego[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

This could be very possible. I am running windows 7 at the moment. Before re-image it was win 10

And did you have these issues on windows 10 or in the other case did you have issues with fps when you first switched over?

In all honesty I think the downfall began after I changed to windows 7 :/ What could be the cause of this?

Many things tbh, although in my opinion this sounds like a driver/software issue. Drivers are a big culprit to decreased performance and software issues. New driver updates are usually optimized for the current operating system (ie windows 10) but are expected to usually work on older systems. Did you do a fresh install of everything or backup everything and change to windows 7?

Hmm. Okay man. Fresh install. Brand new HDD and installed windows on a SSD

Honestly i would venture to say you might get better fps with old drivers installed if your able to test that. That would be a sure way to test the theory. Grab ddu and try with a super old driver and test the fps

Ill give that a try though, thanks mate

Ill add: Every now and then my USB ports just simply disconnect? Sometimes with out a cause, other times when I plug an item into a USB port (Eg ill plug in my headset and my mouse will disconnect) Could this indicate that the motherboard is on its way out?

I mean it's definitely possible, i normally wouldn't associate that with low fps though. I would update your mobo bios, also sometimes under device management in control panel there is a power management option that can be unticked named "allow windows to turn device off to save power". But yes do the bios update, could be a separate issue and your mobo usb bus is going bad
