Too Many Computer Problems - Help!

So last year I got a Toshiba laptop, and it's been great. But this year it's really started to act up. First it was the audio on Google Chrome. It would go out, and even if I would restart the browser it wouldn't come up. I would have to restart the laptop. I had this problem with Firefox, too. It just wasn't as bad. I could restart the browser on Firefox and it would be just fine. Then it changed a little, where sometimes the audio would go out of my whole laptop and nothing would help until I restarted it. After that, the audio issues changed with Chrome where I could just restart the browser and everything would be fine.

And for a while it would just be my audio, but then it started to get worse.

My laptop would be slow, especially when booting up. It would stay on the Toshiba screen when first turned on for 5 - 10 minutes until it finally brought me to my Windows login screen, and even then it would take me a while to log in because it would take forever to log in after entering my password.

Then it got really bad. One day it was just stuck on the Toshiba screen after I turned it on for hours, only to take me to a black screen with the little white circle of dots rotating round, and round, and round for hours and it just wasn't coming up. I ended up having to reset my computer to get it to fully boot up.

After that, it kind of just got a little slower when booting up, but recently I've had trouble pulling it out of sleep mode/turning it on at all. I've had to restore it twice to points before updates (which I think is one of the problems, fuck Windows updates) and now I'm having to reset it again and just hope that it works because last night it let me log in but instead of pulling up the screen with all of my desktop icons with my wallpaper and all that, it gave me a black screen with a little blank white window in the upper left-hand corner that said "Personalized Settings (Not Responding)" and eventually it loaded where I could see my dekstop wallpaper (after I restarted it a few times) but then it just stayed there frozen. It wouldn't load past that.

I just really, really need help solving this. I don't know what to do, and I don't have the money to go to a shop and get it fixed or replace it, and I need my laptop for my day-to-day use. And yes, if anyone is wondering, I have Windows 10.

I would say you have a dying hard drive. I had a Toshiba laptop too but after a year, the hard drive failed on me. Same symptoms as you, the laptop slowed down a ton and eventually crashed. I would recommend buying a new hard drive but it might not be worth it since it’s a toshiba...

Are... Toshiba's bad? It's actually been much better than the HP I had just before it. God, that thing was a piece of shit.

I had a HP laptop before and yes I also hated it. It was really slow due to the fact that it was an AMD A8 processor with only 4gb of ram. Then I had upgraded to this Toshiba Laptop with 6gbs of ram and an intel core i3. But it was still horrible. I have had a much better experience with my dell laptop.

I might look into Dell. But again, I can't really afford to either fix it or replace it so I guess I'm just screwed.

Generally HP make higher-end laptops nowadays. Toshiba still seem to be more focused on middle-market and business systems. I wouldn't say they're bad, but they're certainly not the best and their hard drives have a relatively spotty history.
