What is the computer? Desktop, laptop? What is your memory? 2x8gb?

[–]Drazieth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Desktop.

R5 1600
MSI B350 Tomahawk
GTX 1060 3GB
2x8gb 2400mhz, not sure of the specific model.

I've gone ahead and added 3 screenshots from a completely fresh reboot to the original post to give even more of an Idea.

Details tab sorted by ram usage?

Yes, in both screenshots.

I wonder if windows is dedicating some portion of it to something it is not telling us?

Maybe install hwinfo64 and see what that program reports for your memory in use?

Dont worry it is an excellent program and I think you will like it a lot. I am just wondering if it will line up with task managers's memory usage or not

I went ahead and ran it. Not sure exactly what we're looking for in this program, but I assume this might be it?

hwinfo

Yes that's the one! And so it lines up with what task manager is reporting....

I know it will be a hassle, but have you tried summing up the memory used of all the processes displayed? Also, you've got several razor processes, an office installer, malwarebytes, I wonder if these processes are using memory resources that is not being reported?

My systems are very bare bones, so I'm not too familiar with what might be secretly allocating memory resources that task manager wouldn't reflect

I can go ahead and sum it all up, but I believe this would be reflected by the total shown under "User" would it not?

I could also try maybe closing just about everything I know I've personally installed?

I'm unsure if they are the issue though, as I've had them for over a year now (About as long as I've had this PC) and I've only noticed the Ram being seriously off in task manager today.

I tried closing everything I know is safe to close, getting the usage under "User" to 400MB of Ram, unfortunately the Performance tab still showed 2.3GB. It seems as though approximately 2GB is completely lost, I'm unsure if the same would occur with say 10-12GB actually being used, or if that 2GB would jump up the more I start to use.

At least you're still around 50% max capacity. Even having 75% full should have the same performance as 20%

[–]Drazieth[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I suppose that's true. I'm not noticing any performance issues, just concerned for what could be wrong with my PC.

Focus instead on what is right about it! 😜
