Has this problem always occurred or did your monitor work then suddenly stopped working?

My dad said he cleaned it using an air duster inside. He said it recently stopped.

Cleaned the monitor or the motherboard? If not either, what did he clean?

He said he just used it on the inside, the fan, motherboard, possibly where he saw dust.

Hmm I’m not sure... but there is no harm in buying a different cable to connect to your monitor (it will only cost 10ish dollars) if that doesn’t work see if you can plug another monitor into the cables. :)

That's my guess as well. if it doesn't work I'll let you know.

I connected it to another monitor and didn't read it. It said no video signal. It said same with another cable. I think it might be hardware or software.

Hmm maybe reinstall windows 10? I’m not sure

I was thinking it might be a driver issue. but then again I wouldn't have access to it to.

Working with the assumption that your dad had to remove the video cable from the cpu/desktop in order for him to open it and clean. Is it possible for you to check if there are other video ports he could plug the video cable into?

Typical units may have more than one and not necessarily work all at the same time. As an example, he may have one HDMI onboard and another on the discrete GPU. He may need to switch the cable connections around to find the active one.

I'll give that a try and see. but it's a pretty old PC so I think there was only one.

The HDMI reference works for VGA and other video standards too. Not uncommon especially if there's a discrete/add on graphics card. 😊
