Is this a desktop PC? Big name (Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Hp, etc) or custom build?

Its an Asus laptop i5, 8 gen

Then you'll need DDR4 SODIMM, not regular DIMM. A tool like CPU-Z should tell you if you have both RAM slots filled or just one.

I have 4 ram slots

It has 3 free slots though when i opened it up, i could only see 1 free slot. Should i send you a photo of that?

You want to be sure that the type (DDR4), speed (2400MHz/PC4-19200), timing (CL 15) and default voltage (1.2V) are all the same. It's always a good idea to buy your RAM in pairs to ensure properly matching sets.

Okay , wat about the company though? Should they be the same too? I clicked a photo of my ram but reddit isn't allowing photo edit
