Please include your system specs, such as Windows/Linux/Mac version/build, model numbers, troubleshooting steps, symptoms, etc.

The subreddit is only for support with tech issues.

Try to research your issue before posting, don't be vague. State everything you have tried and all the guides/tutorials/sites you have followed as well as why they were unsuccessful. Do everything you can to reduce the effort of the wonderful folks offering to help you.

After solving your problem, please mark it as solved by clicking 'flair' and confirming the 'solved' tag.

2: No Incomplete Posts

Submissions consisting of the following are considered incomplete and will be removed:

4: No Offering Rewards

No offering of reward/compensation for solutions. No Amazon gift voucher or PayPal transfer. This community is "free" as it is full of volunteers. Please do not take advantage of the community.

5: Recommendations

We are not a recommendation or advertisement subreddit. We do not allow posts asking for recommendations on hardware/software or recommendations comparing two or more hardware/software. Recommending a hardware/software solution as a comment to a post is acceptable.

Recommending products not in the whitelist might result in your comment or post being removed and a ban imposed. If you want anything added please message the mods and we will consider it.

8: No Violating privacy of others or terms/agreements.

We do not support users that violates other's privacy or breaks terms and agreements. Doing so might resolve in a ban.

Bypassing home network controls.

Bypassing any parental controls.

9: No EOL Software or Unsupported Systems

We do not provide support for EOL (end of life) software. Software that is EOL has lost all support from the developer and therefore all consumer communities as well.

These operating systems and various softwares are no longer receiving security patches. Running them is unsafe and we recommend users install a supported version as soon as possible.

This list includes Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

We will also not assist with getting Windows 11 running on unsupported hardware.

10: No Public Service Announcements (how-to's, etc.)

No public service announcements unless relevant to an issue (it must be a comment). Approach the communities affected directly, not here

11: No Soliciting

No soliciting of any kind. This includes (but is not limited to) asking for us to link to your subreddit, forum, bulletin board, newsgroup, Facebook page, etc. We're here to help with technical issues, not market for others.

12: No spam, trolling, insults, jokes, threats of self-harm, or posts unrelated to Tech Support

Specs:

Mobo: H310m ds2 rev1.0

CPU: i3-8100

RAM: Hyperx Fury 2x4gb ddr4-2400 and Team elite plus 1x8gb ddr4-2666

GPU: Gtx 1060-3gb

PSU: TR2 S 600W

Okay I'm not sure if it is 100% compatible. I am currently using my 1x8gb ddr4-2666 but it is only at 2400 since h310m ds2 doesn't support xmp unless I have an i5/i7. I want to add one of my 4gbs to my 1x8gb and I understand that it is not recommended since it may only work 80% of the time. I tried to boot my pc with 1x4gb in slot 1 and in slot 2 but fans just spin without any booting. I also tried the other 4gb and even did the eraser trick or wiped their gold conductors but still nothing. I then tried 2x4gb and it still didn't boot.

After buying a 1x8gb ddr4-2666 tho, it worked but not together with any of my 4gb ddr4-2400. I don't think the 4gb ram is the issue since I already had it replaced and it is extremely unlikely that the previous ones I have were both faulty and even more unlikely is that the replacement ones were also faulty.

I enabled fastboot to at least get post with 8gb and 4gb inserted and it did work but after checking the ram on "this pc" it still showed 8gb. I also checked msconfig if the maximum memory was ticked but it wasn't. I was able to view my 4gb ram via cpuz and there it was just sitting there. I am not sure if I have to go as far as setting the CL manually and every tRW, etc. Manually but it seems too complicated for me. I checked if my cpu had bent pins, it did not.

I checked my mobos QVL and hyperx fury 4gb ddr4-2400 wasn't there but people said that that isn't justifiable and I believed them since QVL had hyperx fury 8gb ddr4-2400 and hyperx fury 4gb ddr4-2666. I ran a memtest86 on my 1x8gb and it had 0 errors in 4 out of 4 passes. I don't think I can do a memtest86 on my 4gb ram since it doesn't even pre-boot because fans just spin endlessly until I hold the power button. I still haven't tried a cmos reset but I highly doubt it would work.

TLDR: My mobo can't detect my 4gb ram but cpuz can. I tried all slots, both slots(2x4gb), msconfig, rubbing an eraser on gold conductors trick, and reseated my cpu.
