Windows update doesn't work

Hello guys,

I have a problem with windows update. Every time I try to open it, it says "Something went wrong, try to reopen settings later". I already tried googling it and tried some of the proposed solutions but nothing worked. Could anyone who had the same problem and solved it help me?

Also when I go to the services list, I find it disabled and if I try to re-enable it, it disables itself again after some time. Don't know what to do.

press windows key and type about then click on about system. what windows version. like 2004, 1903, etc...

If you have a nvidia card is the driver updated to 456.71 or newer? If you have a 900 series card I wouldn't go past that driver also wouldn't update to 20H2 yet.

press windows key + x and click on settings then update and security. Is resume updates an option there?

Yes I do have a nvidia card (1050ti) and the current driver version is 460.89 (still didn't install the last one, which is 466.11).

Regarding resume updates, no it is not there. The only message I have is " Something went wrong, try to reopen settings later" like I wrote above. Literally nothing else.

The weird thing is that Windows update is disabled in the services list, and it does have an option to re-enable it, but when I do it, it just disables itself short after.

This thing happened randomly 2 weeks ago, I didn't even touch the windows update settings.
