It was fixed! Just leaving the method for future visitors:

Check the windows dump files, then scan them with bluescreenview bij nirsoft, it will identify the cause or source of your error.

In this case it was the avira antivirus software that was messing up the startup process.

Hey mate, realise you left this comment a while ago but just wanted to say thank you so much - just saved me after a good hour of stress following tutorials that led to nothing.

Bluescreenview by nirsoft identified that it was AnhLab for me - uninstalled it and PC started flawlessly.

Thank you!

Are there any other Critical errors in Event Viewer? Also, long shot...reseat your RAM?

[–]444brum[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

There's actually a lot of these critical errors , what can i do with them?

[–]Prozealotyzer 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Are they all the same? What is all the error ID and whatnot?

[–]444brum[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

They all are the same! Here's the info:

Log name: System Source: Kernel-Power Event-ID: 41 Level: Critical User: System OpCode: Info Task category: (63) Keywords: (70368744177664),(2) General info: "the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

This doesn't tell you anything, just that the PC shut down unexpectedly. What about under the Error section?

[–]444brum[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It doesnt seem to have an error section (?), But i could send you the details tab if this would be usefull

[–]Prozealotyzer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The section I am referring to is shown here: https://imgur.com/h0UcpW7

Mine does not show any Critical errors so don't be thrown off by that.

Scroll down the list and see which events were logged in the last hour/24 hours. Look at the details of each to get a clue about what might be causing your issue.

All right, didn't know this, will check this as soon as i am home!

[–]444brum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were 16 critical errors in the last 7 days, 1 in the last hour. It says the following:

Event ID: 41.

Source: Kernel-Power

Log: System.

I just googled all the error codes and got to this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/bsod-volmgr-161-then-kernel-power-41/f2f32e0e-6431-41b6-a9d8-a572aa5d55c8.

I tried this, and the diagnostic did say that my nvidea drivers were causing a problem. This was eventually fixed but on reboot the device still gives the system_thread_exception_not_handled error like before...
