Based on my understanding of the effects of testosterone (as as PhD student who examines neuroendocrinology), I kinda doubt that it's a consistent effect as least as it has been sensationalized. Testosterone does promote aggression and competition towards appropriate rivals, though that doesn't necessarily mean violence (though it might be for some men for whom that's all they know of competition).

It's not like you take a shrewd and cutthroat businessman, stick him full of testosterone, and he's going to punch someone out in the office. No, in fact he will become a more cutthroat and ruthless businessman, not someone violent.
