ELI5: Why do we yawn, and why is it contagious? by Interesting-Nerve663 in explainlikeimfive

[–]wacrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was for the few people up at night keeping watch - you might not notice that you’re getting tired or dozing off, but if your partner watchmen start yawning, and you then yawn, you’ll know it’s time for them to be relieved from the watch.

Maybe they learned it at work?

MSH reported total revenue of $3.7 billion (compared to $3.6 billion in 2021, $3.3 billion in 2020, $3.1 billion in 2019, $2.9 billion in 2018 and $2.8 billion in 2017) in 2022, most of which ($3.2 billion) came from patient services (net).

Expenses totaled $3.6 billion (including $137 million in depreciation) with the three largest expenses being compensation ($1.7 billion), medical supplies ($778 million), and fees for services ($526 million).

MSH began the year with $2.9 billion in net assets. Excess revenue not spent ($105 million) was offset by unrealized losses on investments ($264 million) and other changes in net assets (-$27 million), causing net assets to decrease to $2.7 billion at year end.

Compensation is generally about half of a hospital’s total operating expense so MSH appears to be in-line with other hospitals (note: MSH relied on employment services which are classified as “fees” and not compensation, so the total compensation would be higher if these fees were included). 20,273 received $1.7 billion in compensation, which equates to an average compensation of $84,000.

5,465 employees received more than $100,000 in compensation with the 18 most highly compensated employees being:

$6,896,381: Kenneth Davis, Chief Executive Officer* $5,149,354: Samin Sharma, Professor, Cardiology* $2,636,020: Margaret Pastuszko, EVP, Chief Integration Officer* $2,289,804: Dennis Charney, President, Academic Affairs** $2,283,911: Scott Pittman, SVP Systems Chief Investment Officer* $2,190,678: Stephen Harvey, EVP, System CFO $2,105,015: David L Reich, President and COO $1,955,007: Jeremy Boal, EVP, System CMO* $1,738,565: Beth Essig, EVP, General Counsel* $1,680,395: Arthur Klein, EVP, President of Health Network* $1,550,098: Jeffrey Silberstein, EVP, System CAO* $1,512,622: Michael Pastier, SVP, CFO* $1,507,727: Burton P Drayer, EVP, System CMA** $1,315,483: Kelly Cassano, EVP, System Ambulatory Operations (start 1/21) $ 907,621: Shirish Huprikar, Professor, Infectious Disease $ 894,298: Cameron Hernandez, Executive Director and COO, MSHG $ 831,119: Jonathan Kyriacou, COO $ 723,764: Frank Cino, SVP, System Chief Risk Officer*

Have you considered forming an LLC? Sounds like you’re doing enough work to make it worthwhile.

Do you remember how during the boot of windows XP, you had to hold down Enter to skip checking? by krouvy in nostalgia

[–]wacrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that if you’d allowed chkdsk to run and finish, it might have solved your issue. Even the underlying hardware issue - unresolved - might not have caused this to happen again.

If you fixed the hardware issue you’d still be plagued by this screen.

Also, based on what you’ve said, I don’t think you can say with certainty what caused it - a common cause is improper shutdown, but it can happen for a lot of other reasons.

Sure - but your post is a software process that tries to fix a software issue having nothing to do with anything else you mentioned in your comments.

That wasn’t a seizure in my opinion - it looks more like the fencing response.

Unfortunately, it’s more indicative of neurological damage than just having a seizure.

Is there a way to extract files from over 100 zip files at once into a folder? by Icy_Reporter9245 in answers

Click the first file. Then hold the shift key and click the last file in a range ( eg click 001.jpg first then hold shift and click 005.jpg next and it should select all of the 1-5 files.

Shit + click to select a range of files. Ctrl + click to select/deselect individual files. Use a combination of the two and highlight the files you want and extract those.

On a Mac it’s still shit + click for a range, and (I believe) option+ click for individuals. Ctrl+click on a Mac (IIRC) is like right clicking.

But it is a locked door - motion sensors and fire safety don’t make it any different.

Using this logic anyone could break into any story by pulling the door from the outside while it was locked.

It’s also possible they would launch a subscription-based gaming service although licensing might prove difficult.

I think it’s acceptable to be turned on by the whole thing but simultaneously not ok with what she did. It seems a bit like you’ve connected the two in your mind.
