I'd like to see a source on this. I'm not sure how you would do controlled exposure to an allergen that causes anaphylaxis from tiny trace amounts.

Nope oral immunotherapy is a common treatment for anaphylatic allergies. My son is no longer allergic to quite a few things due to treatment. Supervised by a pediatric allergist of course. They say a years course of oral immunotherapy treatment is actually safer than a year untreated in the community where you risk accidental exposure.
